REDSKINS. Live GLC Festival, London 10.6.84.

Here's another 'Redskins' classic piece of history, this is an audience recording of their set at, "Jobs For A Change", GLC Festival, Jubilee Gardens, London. As you'll see from the poster quite a line up, these festivals were organised by the labour led Greater London Council, at this event the Redskins set was cut short by 80 or so fascist skinheads who I suppose objected to seeing fellow skins supporting red Ken and having leftist views. As usual alot of fighting took place on and off stage as can be heard ! It did eventually all charm down and the rest of the festival went on fine !

I have also put the first 'John Peel' Session on here, does any one have the second or the 'Kid Jensen' Sessions as I can't find mine anywhere?!

  4. Thanks a lot for this. I was at the gig and remember well trying to get my then girlfriend away from the front as quickly as possible when it all kicked off. As I remember it, it all started with someone throwing a Party Seven at Chris Moore, followed by a chorus of "Seig Heil" from just behind us. We didn't hang around. The rest of the day was, as you say, fine... Misty In Roots in particular.

For our American friends - a Party Seven was a can containing seven pints of beer (I say beer, it was usually Watneys or some such piss).

  6. Nice one! In my opinion The Redskins were one of the most important groups of those troubled times.
